Double Cone Updo 梦幻剧发型DIY

Whist browsing spcnet and Chinese drama forums on baidu, some netizens described this hairstyle as some sort of icecream waffle cone, hence this name is title of this post! Haha okay let's just get to the catch. Please excuse my not-quite-volumious version of this elegant hairstyle, but it really does take hella teasing of the hair to achieve this look - so if you are going for the real deal, please do so. All the more power to backcombing like crazy!
TUTORIAL BELOW

You'll want to start off by parting your hair as indicated by the dotted lines. For the front, make a center part (not very clear from what the picture looks like.. but that's what I tried to show).

With hair divided into 4 sections, I'm working with the back right section of hair first. You'll want to make a high ponytail and twist the hair, then wrapping the twist into a cinnamon bun roll. Secure this small bun with a couple bobby pins.

Next, grab the section in front (front-right) and backcomb the hair lightly to create texture and volume that we need to make it easier for this piece of hair to incorporate into the bun later.
Wrap this section of teased hair around the bun and pin it down. Then, follow the above steps to complete the other side of your Double Cone Updo.

What are some of your favorite period dramas and unforgettable looks?
